Today, Mr.Navyug from QAI India visited IMI to give a lecture on Demystifying Innovation.
The lecture was fruitful and enjoyable.
The most interesting part of the lecture was when we played a little game as conducted by Mr. Navyug. The game was simple and tested our innovative thinking. It was a "Murder Mystery." Jack and Jill lying dead on the floor. Room locked from outside. Window open. Wind blowing outside. There is a table on the room. on it a bowl of fruits. beside it on the ground, broken glass and spilled water.
what we had to do was solve it. we were allowed to ask him questions that he could answer only in "yes" or "no"
some of the questions that flowed were as follows:
were the fruits apples > No
were the fruits oranges > No
were the fruits grapes > Yes
was there blood anywhere > No
were they poisoned > No
was jack and jill a painting > No
did they fall from the table > Yes
What were they doing on the table ... > cant answer...
Now, Mr.Debayan Mukherjee was sitting next to me. Suddenly he pops up:
"Were jack and jill Human beings?" and the whold auditorium erupted in laughter.
I thought it was a very good and relevant question. Maybe jack and jill were pets.
The question was bypassed by Mr. Navyug.
Moments later we came to know that Jack and Jill were fishes.
Debayan had asked the Jackpot question!!
Now here comes the best part.
when i asked him for his rationale behind the question I was literally stunned to the core and shocked by the reply:
"I thought may be Jack and Jill were grapes" he confidently said.
I felt my ears go numb. Now THAT's what I call creativity.
